The Institute of Welfare is run by its members. They determine our overall policy and direction at the Annual General Meeting.

Individual members are linked with our regional and local centres around the country, which organise a wide range of activities designed to disseminate best practice and give welfare practitioners in the field an opportunity to discuss issues with their peers. There is also an employers' forum for corporate members to exchange views and ideas on welfare-related issues.

A Management Board is appointed to oversee the implementation of policy between Annual General Meetings. This is supported by a Chairperson and a small team of officers based at our headquarters in Birmingham.
