11.00am      Provocative Therapy - Dr. Brian Kaplan

If you have ever met with a 'resistant' client or 'heartsink' patient/client, or you've ever needed new and fun ways to entice and warmly provoke others to make the changes they need to make in their lives, then this session is for you.

Dr. Brian Kaplan is a medical doctor specialising in Whole Person Medicine and his great passion is Provocative Therapy. Provocative Therapy is the cutting edge in the use of humour and reverse psychology in therapy and counselling.

Dr. Kaplan will discuss the principles of this highly effective and energising form of counselling that is very enjoyable to use. He will discuss how humour can be safely integrated into the work of all the caring professions. Participants will be given some strategies that they can use with immediate effect.

The presentation will be experimental. There will be a chance for a volunteer to work with Dr. Kaplan and the group will be given the chance to break up into pairs and practise one of the techniques of Provocative Therapy.
